Took a snap of the deserted neighborhood pool. While the temps are warming up, we are nowhere near full blown outdoors weather yet....

Day 57 - Ikea
Trotted off to Ikea to buy the little one some bedroom furniture. Could not resist a stop at their infamously cheap (and good!) cafeteria. I had the warm apple and cinnamon bread pudding with caramel sauce, he had the Daim Torte
Day 56 - Weekend Reading
Yes, I am a Wannabe Asian parent...and demented... finished off both books in one weekend. Interesting to say the least.....
Day 55 - The School Contribution
I signed up to donate a cake for our school event, however, the school district does not allow homemade donations. So the item needs to be store or bakery bought which meant ..BORING.... However, the PTA still wanted a "Seaside or Beach" theme, so I bought some icing sugar pre-made decorations (dolphins, surf boards, and a couple of palm trees) and put them on top of a chocolate cake. Mission accomplished.

Day 54 - Malabar Mutton Biriyani
My first attempt at the delicious rice and meat concoction from South India
Day 51 - What is this?
Banana Flower...actually edible. But funny that the grocery store check out guy asked me what it was and whether it could be eaten.
Day 50 - Resilient
Our backyard has been reduced to dried and dead shrubs and twigs due to the brutal winter, but I spotted this very resilient sprig of mint growing through the cracks in the pavement.
Day 49 - Quail Eggs
Bought quail eggs for the first time, and marveled at how distinct their egg shell patterns were....

Day 48 - Discovered 99 Ranch
I've passed by a new store called 99 Ranch in our neighborhood quite a couple of times and thought it was a Dollar store - that missed the "c" (99 cent store). A fearless relative then told me it was a new Asian store from California. I went in today and was FLOORED by the exotix fruits, vegetables and Asian goodies on display. I have a feeling this place is going to become a new fave haunt for me

Day 47 - Julia Child's Boeuf Bourguignon
Attempted a classic Julia Child's recipe, and sweared profusely why I had bothered 3 hours into the 5 hour process. Finally got to taste the results today, and promptly forgot about the kvetching I had done earlier...

Day 46 - I finally joined the 21st Century!
Got the I-Phone 4. The heckling from my friends who derided my 20th century cell phone and my woeful inadequacy at texting can now subside.
Now if I can figure out how to actually make use of it....
Day 45 - Valentines Day? Heck No - Pay Day!
MY company typically hands out Profit sharing checks on Valentines Day. This is the first year in a LONG WHILE that we actually made a profit, and we were treated to these $ cupcakes as well.
Day 44 - The High Roller Truck
As I was about to pull out of the driveway to work in the morning, this monster truck showed up and blocked our street. Advertising high end luxury vehicles like Rolls Royce and Ferrari, it made quite a few heads tunr in the neighborhood. Alas, the delivery was NOT for me....
Day 40 - Playing With Food
My three year old always runs up whenever any form of dough is being used in the house, and then proceeds to make his shapes out of it.
Day 33 - The Fountain Iced Over
..and the Toys came out to Skate...Polly pocket has got some moves there..
Day 31 - Why The Spouse Should Not Be In Charge Of The Netflix Queue
Day 31 - Why The Spouse Should Not Be In Charge Of The Netflix Queue, originally uploaded by Split Pearsonality.
Enough Said...
Day 29 - A Homemade Fruit Bouquet
We were invited to my niece's 17th birthday, and I couldn't wrap my head around what to get a teen these days. So I gave her fruit. Which solidified my "not-cool" status even further. But I did get brownie points for the chocolate covered strawberries and cake balls.
Day 27: My scruffy, overflowing night stand
This sight should send neat freaks scurrying for cover...Yes, I have a "slight" problem with books, magazines and cookbooks
Tequila Lime Chicken
Copycat recipe from Applebees restaurant. Chicken marinated in tequila, liquid smoke (oh yeah, I went there!), ginger, garlic, lime juice and tequila. Baked with cream sauce and cheese, served up for dinner on tortilla chips.
